Potent Tamil voice for European Parliament[TamilNet, Sunday, 31 May 2009, 01:44 GMT]June 4th elections will determine if Tamils in the London electoral region have the political muscle, organizational acumen and seasoned campaigning skills to attract broader British voters to elect Ms Janani (Jan) Jananayagam, a British, French educated young professional, who is contesting as an Independent candidate to the European Parliament. Malaysia betrayed the Malaysian Tamils

The Malaysian Bar expresses grave concern over the atrocities that were committed in Sri Lanka during the armed conflict, especially against civilians, and the alleged concomitant violations of international humanitarian law and of international human rights. There are allegations made that war crimes were committed during the final days of the armed conflict and that there was genocide against the Tamils that exceeded the horrors of Srebenica. We are disappointed that the Malaysian Government voted in favour of the self-congratulatory United Nations Human Rights Council resolution put forward by Sri Lanka. This resolution praises Sri Lanka for its current policies and focuses solely on the alleged abuses committed by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, without addressing the allegations of long-standing and continuing violations of human rights by government forces.
We strongly urge the Malaysian Government to take a consistent position in its stand against human rights abuses abroad. That position must include a call for an “independent and credible international investigation into recent events” to “ascertain the occurrence, nature and scale of violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as specific responsibilities”, as recently articulated by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay. On 12 January 2009, the Malaysian Government moved a Parliamentary resolution to establish a UN-sponsored War Crimes Tribunal to investigate Israel’s attacks against Gaza. Are we heading to the authoritarian rule?
The polis raid in the DAP's HQ recently was an act of intimidation and muzzle showing drama. This was a new precedent introduce lately. It never happen in Malaysian history before. Its not a massage parlour to make raid as they like. You need warrant for such actions. Its an absolute abuse of power. Stop this scare tactics.
The police shouldn't think they can do anything they like. Remember you are not above the laws.
To restore his 1Malaysia policy, the PM should immediately intervene and stop such abuses in the future.
The crime rate has increased drastically during this few years. The streets were not safe anymore. Women got their purses snatched in every street corner, men get mugged in broad day light. There is no a single day in Malaysia without a crime being reported.
Young girls get raped in bushes, in parks and even in car parks. Serial killers still at large, unsolved robbery cases have been put to sleep. What are the polis doing?
Nowdays, there is no any safe place where people can walk without fear.
The people expect the polis to protect their safety. Make our place free from crime and safer to live. We will appreciate that nothing much.

Malaysia ,an accessory to genocide of Tamils In Sri Lanka
"Accessories after the fact to acts of Genocide"[TamilNet, Saturday, 23 May 2009, 02:00 GMT]Condemning the sponsorship, by twelve states, of a self-praising resolution submitted to the United Nations by the Government of Sri Lanka, before the scheduled UN Human Rights Council emergency session scheduled for Monday, Professor Boyle, an expert in International Law said Friday that these states have become accessories after the fact to the numerous acts of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes that the Government of Sri Lanka has perpetrated upon the Tamils. Labelled “Assistance to Sri Lanka in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights,” Sri Lanka’s proposed text is co-signed by Indonesia, China, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Bahrain, Philippines, Cuba, Egypt, Nicaragua, and Bolivia, reported UN Watch, a non-governmental organization based in Geneva whose mandate is to monitor the performance of the United Nations."Their sponsorship of this Resolution means that the above-mentioned states have thereby all become ACCESSORIES AFTER THE FACT to the numerous acts of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes that the Government of Sri Lanka has perpetrated upon the Tamils in violation of the 1948 Genocide Convention, the Four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Two Additional Protocols of 1977, as well as the rules of customary international criminal law, including humanitarian law and the laws of war," Prof. Boyle said.
